Introduction

If you need to temporarily stop backing up a device, suspending it is the best option. Suspending acts like a pause on the backup process from the server side, without removing the device from your BigMIND online account. This means the device remains registered, and the BigMIND application will halt the backup until you request to resume it.

How to Suspend a Computer’s Backup

  1. Sign in to the BigMIND web console where the desired backup is stored. Make sure to sign in as an admin user.
  2. From the left-side menu, select Users / Servers.
  3. From the left-side panel of the Manage Users/Servers page, click the Computers option. All computers that are currently backed up under this account will be listed.
  4. Click the Action icon (Actions icon) of the computer you want to suspend its backup and select the Suspend Computer option.
  5. A confirmation message will appear, click OK to continue.

After completion, within a 15-minute window, the BigMIND desktop application installed on the recently suspended computer will detect this action and start showing a suspension notification. If you wish to resume backing up the computer, you will have to activate the computer following the same steps above, but opting for the Activate Computer option.

How to Suspend a Server’s Backup

  1. Sign in to the BigMIND web console where the desired backup is stored. Make sure to sign in as an admin user.
  2. From the left-side menu, select Users / Servers.
  3. From the left-side panel of the Manage Users/Servers page, click the Servers option. All servers that are currently backed up under this account will be listed.

  4. Click the Action icon (Actions icon) of the server you want to suspend its backup and select the Suspend Server option.
  5. A confirmation message will appear, click OK to continue.

After completion, within a 15-minute window, the BigMIND desktop application installed on the recently suspended server will detect this action and start showing a suspension notification. If you wish to resume backing up the server, you will have to activate the server following the same steps above, but opting for the Activate Server option.

How to Suspend a Smartphone’s Backup

  1. Sign in to the BigMIND web console where the desired backup is stored. Make sure to sign in as an admin user.
  2. From the left-side menu, select Users / Servers.
  3. From the left-side panel of the Manage Users/Servers page, click the Tablets and Mobiles option. All smartphones that are currently backed up under this account will be listed.
  4. Click the Action icon (Actions icon) of the device you want to suspend its backup and select the Suspend Device option.
  5. A confirmation message will appear, click OK to continue.

After completion, within a 15-minute window, the BigMIND application installed on the recently suspended smartphone will detect this action and start showing a suspension notification. If you wish to resume backing up the smartphone, you will have to activate it following the same steps above, but opting for the Activate Smartphone option.

How to Suspend an MS SQL Backup

  1. Sign in to the BigMIND web console where the desired backup is stored. Make sure to sign in as an admin user.
  2. From the left-side menu, select Users / Servers.
  3. From the left-side panel of the Manage Users/Servers page, click the MS SQL option. All MS SQL backups that are currently added under this account will be listed.
  4. Click the Action icon (Actions icon) of the MS SQL backup you want to suspend and select the Suspend MS SQL option.
  5. A confirmation message will appear, click OK to continue.
