Import Files from Amazon S3 into BigMIND

Introduction

BigMIND offers the capability to import files directly from an Amazon S3 bucket.

This feature is exclusive to the Business edition of BigMIND.

How to Import Files from an Amazon S3 Bucket

  1. Sign in to your BigMIND web console.
  2. From the left-side menu, click Discover.
  3. On the left-side panel of the Discover Data page, click Add Service.
  4. In the pop-up box, go to the Import Files tab and click Import from S3.
  5. A new window titled Configure Amazon S3 Import will open. Complete the required fields:
    • Display Name: Assign a name for this import job.
    • Access Key: Learn how to obtain this key.
    • Secret Key: Learn how to obtain this key.
    • Bucket: Enter the bucket name to import the entire bucket or specify a path within the bucket to import a specific folder (e.g., “{bucketname}/importfolder”).
    • Primary Region: Select the region where your bucket is located.
  6. Click the Import button to start the import process.

Important Considerations

One-Time Import: Each S3 bucket can only be imported once.

Job Archival: Upon completion, the import job will be archived, and no further actions (such as re-importing) can be performed on it.

Error Handling: If the import job fails to import specific files, you will receive an email notification with the file names. You can then retry importing these files within the same import job.

Multiple Imports: You can create and import multiple jobs.
