Restoring Old Versions of Files via “BigMIND Restore” Desktop Application

Before starting the restoration process with the BigMIND Restore desktop application, make sure your computer’s power settings are correctly configured to avoid any interruptions. Refrain from logging out of your user profile, restarting, or shutting down your device throughout the entire restoration duration.
Restoration from Cold Storage requires 3-12 hours to commence.
  1. Open your BigMIND desktop application and click the Restore button. This will launch the BigMIND Restore application.
    If the BigMIND desktop application is not installed on your machine, please refer to this article and follow the steps provided.
  2. In the opened BigMIND Restore window, click the Files button.
  3. Use the Computer Name drop-down menu to select the computer that you want to restore from its backup.
  4. Start browsing the data on the left-side panel. You may need to enable the Show/Restore Deleted Files option if you need to see the Deleted Files there.
  5. To restore an old version of one specific file, click the Show Versions option next to its name. This will open a new pop-up window, listing all the available versions of this file. Select the wanted version by clicking on it, and click the Save button. This will immediately move you to the Restore Options window, where you can specify the restore location and proceed with restoring the file.
  6. To restore older versions of files within a folder, choose the desired folder from the left-side panel and transfer it to the right-side panel using the Add icon. Once selected, proceed by clicking the Next button.
  7. From under the Restore Location, select the Restore to an alternative location, and browse for any alternative location you prefer restoring to it.
  8. From under the Restore date range section, enable the Restore files within the specified date range → Set the settings as you prefer.
  9. Click the Next icon to start the restore process.

During this restoration process, it is vital to maintain uninterrupted operation of your machine—avoid turning it off, logging out of your user profile, or activating sleep mode. Once files are ready and accessible, the download commences automatically. You may minimize or close the BigMIND Restore window without affecting the restoration progress.

Downloading an Old Version of a File from the BigMIND Website

This approach allows you to download one file at a time. To restore an entire folder, please use the BigMIND Restore desktop application as described above.
  1. Sign in to your BigMIND account.
  2. From the left-side menu, click Discover.
  3. From the Discover Data page, under the DEVICES & SERVICES section on the left-side panel, select the device/service that you want to restore files from.
  4. Browse for the data you want to restore. You may need to enable the Include Deleted Files option to be able to see the Deleted Files.
  5. Select the files you want to download an older version of. Click on the Information icon of that file, or right-click on it and select Show versions.
